Born Again for the Last Time

“Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.” - Hank Thoreau

Not that any of us ever went to school for business, but for what it’s worth, we did go to college. We could have saved a lot of time and money if someone would have told us the golden rule that we learned the hard way. That rule matter what you do, it’s going to cost more and take way longer than you could ever plan for. It’s an undeniable truth that any entrepreneur could probably tell you, but they don’t.

We did our research and launched a successful Kickstarter campaign back in January. We contacted and received quotes from the textile manufactures, leather suppliers, and the sewers. They all gave us estimates on cost and production time, and just to be safe we more than doubled those estimates to build into our estimated delivery dates. Remember that golden rule? Yep, still true. We’re finally delivering the last of our pre-orders, only two months after the initial delivery estimate. Delivering stuff two months late? To us, that’s just not going to cut it. We demand better of ourselves and in turn, we know you deserve more. How do we fix it?

Modern Industry is bringing production in house. Yes, that’s right, we’re cutting and sewing all of our new production line in our own design studio. Not only will our bags continue to be produced in the US with ethically sourced materials, but they will also be handmade by us and delivered directly to you. With our previous manufacturer we were not able to deliver in a timely manner, so as of now, we will only be selling product that we have in stock. This way we can control the quality and the delivery schedule to ensure you get nothing but the best. You’ll notice that we’ve also had a major redesign for the website that we feel makes it easier to understand what we’re about and what makes us different.

Most importantly, we’d like to thank everyone who has bought a bag from us. The Conduit Sling Pack has completely sold out and the Magnitude backpack is almost gone. You guys are awesome! We’re debuting our new bag today, the Faraday Tote. It’s a tote/messenger convertible that we feel will really turn heads. As we said before, we’re making this line here in San Francisco with extreme attention to detail. We’re also offering them in numbered limited edition colorways. Check it out!
