Remember when you had that idea to create that thing that would totally solve that problem you had? Well let's say you went through the trouble to actually make the damn thing. It works, it's useful, hey…other people might be into this. You could pitch it to a bunch of suits behind a desk with the hopes that they think it will make them money, OR you could take the idea straight to the people and let them decide! Swell times we're living in, eh?
Modern Industry just completed a successful crowd-funding campaign using the leading platform, Kickstarter. In 30 days, we were able to raise over $38,000 to launch the bag and wallet project you've hopefully been following here. And before I go on, I want to thank everyone who pledged to our project and helped spread the word to a larger audience than we initially thought possible. YOU ARE AWESOME. This past Friday, our 30-day timeline ended and we were invited to speak at a local crowd-funding event held at 111 Minna in downtown San Francisco. We were all out of town leading up to this, so we showed up and had to wing it. It went pretty well though, and the crowd that came out were enthusiastic and fun to meet.
The curator of the event was Esther Flatto, inventor of the FlipSlip (check out her IndieGoGo project here!). Esther put on a great show and brought together some interesting and creative people to share their work and have fun on a Friday night. So a big thanks to Esther for inviting us along for the ride.
