Lorris' Great Escape

Between a full course load at school and Modern Industry, time is always tight. But, sometimes you’ve just got to get away. The week before Thanksgiving that is exactly what I managed to do!

We grabbed our rental car and headed south. Destination, organic lemon farm near Big Sur. But first a pit-stop to visit a friend on the Google campus. The campus is massive and extremely top secret, so I can’t tell you guys anything about it. They tricked us into signing Non Disclosure Agreements as we entered the building. They do have sculptures of desserts representing each of the Android OS versions.

After the tour, we left Google and continued on to our final destination. We were forced to arrive at exactly the appointed hour. At this point, one of the we met our guide. The WWOOFER, as the guide's are known (seriously check it out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWOOF), took us up the EXTREMELY steep gravel maze that led to our little solar powered cabin at Country Flat Farm.

On a side note, our Dodge Avenger had no problem with the road. Unfortunately, contemporary car design seems to be moving in the direction of less and less visibility. The Avenger's tiny rear windows and the inability to see the front of the car made for a pretty scary drive.

Once we finally reached our destination, we found super a modest, but incredibly cute, cabin with truly spectacular views. Watching the clouds and rain come in over the hills through the cabin's windowed wall was breathtaking.

The next day we went to the Monterrey Bay Aquarium and saw Sea Lions and Sea Otters in the open water (too far away for pictures, sorry.). In addition we saw sad Penguins trapped in captivity, bumping against the glass of their pool…

and jelly fish…

The next day we checked out the farm. Along the way we picked some lemons and checked out their Avocado trees. Unfortunatly, their fruit was not ripe as you can see from the photo below.

After a wet weekend, the sky cleared that evening for a spectacular sunset.

In conclusion, vacations are fun! Now it's time to get back to work! Here are Modern Industry HQ, we are busy wrapping up lose ends, assembling kickass photos of our bags and editing what will no doubt be an amazing Kickstarter video, so we can launch our project!
