// Ah, the Outer Sunset, San Francisco’s infamous fog-laden playground. My Lower Haight living ass is always underdressed for adventures into the Sunset, and tonight was no different. I met up with fellow Modern Industry compatriot, Mike Domina, at Pizza on Noriega. Ordering a pitcher of Racer 5, we grabbed a spot on the patio for a special screening of I Love Skateboarding: A Retrospective Documentary on Pete “the Ox” Colpits. Although I was shivering on the outside, my insides warmed up quick when the DJ spun some Thin Lizzy for me.
The doc was simultaneously projected on the wall outside and on televisions inside the pizza place. When trick after trick exploded on screen, the crowd of fellow skaters and fans erupted with cheers.
It was way more fun to see the doc in this venue as apposed to DVD at home or on your computer. Not only does it feature some incredible footage from Pete’s skate career, but it also gives you a nice history of his time behind the kit while drumming for the Loudmouths. Pete is an intense skater. I absolutely love his relentless attack, going full boar without any sense of hesitation. Any “mistakes” or mishaps that happen simply become part of his groove. Observe…
Thanks to Pete, the filmmakers, and Pizza Place on Noriega for a great time. Cheers!
